Website and Blog Are Still Alive!

...Just on a bit of a hiatus, at least until 2012.

I am very sorry I haven't been updating either like I used to, and in fact there's been a six month gap since I put up any new articles. The reason for that is rather straightforward: I have been very busy.

Orbital Vector, both the blog and the main site, are a one-man operation. And that one man (myself) has found himself in rather stressful financial straits. IN this day and age, that should come as no surprise, as there's a lot of that going around. That has meant doing a lot more work to just keep myself afloat. Since OV is more or less a hobby, making just enough from its ads to pay for its own hosting with little to no profit for its creator, its one of several things I've had to let slide for now just to make ends meet.

Some people have sent in donations through the button on the main site's front page, and for that I'm very grateful. I do plan on easing back into updating the site and blog regularly early next year, when (hopefully) work in other areas ease up for me.

OV is more or less an informational database, so hopefully even without regular updates people are finding it useful and educational, and the blog here fun and throught provoking. Hopefully you'll be seeing more on here soon!

I sometimes feel like I'm the only person who reads OV. But hey, I love your site! Keep up the good work!

I was shocked and extremely disappointed when the OV website was expired two days ago. The website is one of the most important websites on the internet to me, it contains valuable information for the futuristic hopes of science. Please, can you post all of the data on the blog please?, if you cant do that, can you at least copy and paste all the text in the website into a wordpad file, copy the images, throw them into a folder on the blog where people can at least download the data please?. People have donated to keep OV alive, and it would be fair to do this ASAP. Please. Thank you.

The website is back up! Sorry for the delay, but its fully intact right where it used to be.

The web hosting service for OV, Bravenet, changed its hosting arrangements and current clients had to re-sign on under the new arrangement. I -thought- I had until the end of the month to do that, but apparently that wasn't the case. It should be resolved for now, but I dislike being forced into this new arrangement since that's not what I originally signed onto their service for. In the spring I'll likely be changing webhosts for the site.

Anyway, don't be afraid to save the info on the site that you need onto your own computer. As long as you don't repost the articles anywhere I have no problem with you using the information there for your own use. Its what the site is there for to begin with.

But thank you for your support, both Anonymous and A Fan!

Glad you are with us, I still check the site each week for any updates. Here's hoping 2012 is a better year for you.

Yes I'm here for blatant self promotion, but this is a really nice blog, and I hope you can get things running more smoothly.

I've just started a blog over at www.techtropes.com that I honestly think you might be interested in.

If you do like the stuff there, and you would find guest content useful over here, then it might be worth getting in touch.

I agree that this is a great site. In any case, I thought I should bring it to the webmaster's attention that there's a broken link:
http://orbitalvector.com/Firearms/laser%20Firearms/LASER%20FIREARMS.htm
It's the link used for "Laser Firearms" in the Firearms section. I'd love to read the section on Laser guns!
